2016 Kawasaki KLR650 Motorcycle First Test Review: http://bit.ly/2mEdvVN
The Kawasaki KLR650 has been on the roads since the late 1980’s and has proven to be a durable, reliable and capable adventure machine. Whether you’re exploring off the beaten path or logging serious miles on the asphalt, the KLR650 is hard to beat for sheer do-it-all prowess. Find out more in our written review (link above).

I’ve always liked the KLR, just not enough to buy one over a more powerful bike. It’s good for what it is, but not impressive by any means. You could de-tune any bike to make less than half it’s expected power and it would be just as reliable, which is something that impresses a lot of people strangely. Good looking bike though.
I won;t buy a KLR until they put fuel injection, this carb nonsense is a joke and left me stranded on a trip on my 2003 with carb issues. Never again
great video of great bike!
Good job. I made the right choice. My KLR is the best bike I’ve ever owned. I’m at 21k miles and still no new doohickey.
These are supposed to get 55 to 60 mpg.
You ride where I ride. Great video!
In my opinion KLR should never change. It is the rare old school adventure bike. If somebody needs modern adventure bike, the market ih huge, but if you like something that works well for 30 years, proven workhorse, the KLR is the best choice. No changes for good old KLR.
My first KLR went 98K miles with nothing more than oil changes.
If only it was fuel injected.
If you include ‘fuel injection’ in your comment just move on. You don’t get it and never will.
Good review, but two words…. Fuel Injection! Please!!!!!!
this is really great review video ..
I had the KLR 650 long time and totally loveeeed it .and I wish the KLR would be available in the UK market .
PS the camo color really looks badass soo KLR
NEEDS FUEL INJECTION THIS IS NOT 1974 ANYMORE
just got a klr today
First thing you need to do to any new KLR is put a Slip on exhaust on. The stock muffler is WAAAY too limiting. You will double the power and torque throughout the entire rpm range. I recommend the American made DG exhaust for under $200. TRUST ME!!! You will not regret it! No need to re jet the carb unless you change the head pipe also.
Hi. At what city was this filmed?
I’m about 5’8″. would that be tall enough to touch the ground?
for the extra 100 bucks on the 2017 you get larger front brakes
An old classic.
off-road, it’s heavy to pick up but i am getting better at it and falling down too.
Hey look it’s Alex chacons wanna be brotherin law… awww you reviewed a klr.. cool story bhai
Why buy this when you can get a KTM 690 Enduro for the same price and it comes with direct fuel injection.
I like my first generation, 2007, KLR 650. I’ve heard that the 2nd gen has issues with burning oil.
Nice review: good production and I especially like how there are several points where we can hear the motor running. Good insights into the bike, too. I have a 2016 model just like your test bike; the “new” model seat and springs really make a huge difference over my former 2012 model. I like these bikes because they are comfortable for my 6′ frame. I love the upright seating position and the roominess of the seat-to-peg distance.
awesome video. It’s nice to see some KLR love from the motorcycle media crowd.
best bike ever
my next logic adventure bike..hope so..wish if instrument had fuel needle..or digital ‘something”..btw you don’t have to break the bank..
ive had mine for 2 years now . its my 4th bike . all have been enduros. this is by far the best. its a mule . were you point it , it will go. i ride mud with no problem. off road with no trail. highway all day. you cant go wrong with a klr .
Great video, I love this bike. Check out my thoughts on it. https://youtu.be/iL6CAf4gazw.
ABS?? Hahaha cool story man.. I
I get 50-55 mpg on my 2016
I want change my xr 125 Honda ( please don’t laf ) do you recommend this model for Every day use? I live in Mexico City with heavy traffic and long red lights…
So I’ve owned two DR650’s and road a couple of KLR650’s and the things I can’t understand is why neither manufacturer will make an updated version of their bike? I can only guess the parts they use are so old that they’re almost free and the bikes make them a big margin? Fuel injection, front wheel ABS, modern gauges and a few more horsepower is what I’m talking about.

good review, thanx!
great review
Excellent work! The KLR is a living legend in North America. Best On-line and parts support of any ADV bike in North America. I’ll never buy one new or used, but folks seem to really like them. I went with the MIGHTY DR, the high speed low drag KLR. The KLR does have more value than the DR650, thanks to the updated Suspension in 2014.
A few upgrades for the KLR would also up the price before you know it ,it would enter a new bracket on the shop floor $7650.or something crazy.it would be a totally different bike and start competing with the bmws. That would be the end of the klr as we know it.its a cult bike now so I say leave any upgrades to a minimum. good review thanks.
For those who’ve owned a KLR… Was it me, or was the reviewer searching really hard to find ways to be very optimistical about the bike.. 🙂
